Insurance Acceptance Protocol
Learn how the verification and acceptance process for American dental insurance works at Dentalist.
Insurance confirmation: The patient is asked whether they have American dental insurance and which provider.
Initial verification: We check whether the insurance is on our list of accepted plans.
Required documentation:
- Patient ID (passport or driver's license)
- Social Security Number
- Photo of the insurance card (front and back)
Verification time: The process takes between 3 and 5 business days.
Want to be seen before verification is complete? You can pay at clinic rates and we'll adjust the cost once your policy is confirmed.
A. Payment to patient: The patient pays for their treatments up front. The insurer reimburses the patient directly. We verify the policy and inform you of any annual deductible.
B. Payment to provider: The patient pays only the percentage their insurance does not cover. The remainder is paid directly by the insurer to Dentalist. We also verify the policy and inform you about deductibles.
